CAREER REPORT EXAMPLE

Steve Jobs,

When we consider career options we often start with an external focus – what is available for me to do? Where we start should actually be an internal journey of discovery, and it is a journey that requires you to know yourself. Know thyself – is advice that has been given from ancient times to the present, from parents and teachers to philosophers and psychologists. The reason it is so important is that to a great extent, our ideas and beliefs, our character and emotions determine how we live. The better we understand ourselves the greater the probability that we will make career choices that reflect our passion. The information in this report can assist you to gain more self-knowledge, but you need to consider the information critically. Only when you are comfortable with the aspects that you regard as important can you implement steps to develop that potential. If you want to be happy in your work/career, you need to find a work/career that suits your personality, meets your needs and helps you to achieve your personal goals. Keep in mind that you do not necessarily need to follow a career that reflects your talents (aspects that you are good at). The challenge is to identify a career that will allow you to live your passion, but for this to happen you need to know what your passion is.

In this document, I will facilitate the communication process between the information your brain has recorded on your hands and the career opportunities you can consider. I will endeavour to ensure that you are conscious of options that reflect not only your potential, but also your passion. It is important that you consider these options not only to follow a specific career, but also to answer your calling or live your purpose. This process requires you to have a fair amount of self-knowledge. By increasing your self-knowledge, you will be in a better position to make career choices. In providing you with this information, it is important that you keep the following in mind:

  • You remain the authority to make your own career choices.
  • You should be comfortable with the choices you make.
  • The choices you make should be intended to ensure your happiness.
  • Your choices should reflect your passion.
  • Your passion is not necessarily the same as your talents.
  • You can have more than one passion.

In this report, I will not comment on all the features of your hands, but will focus on those that can provide us with information relevant in our quest to equip you with sufficient self-knowledge to make informed career choices. This information is obtained by applying the principles of Chirology to the features on your hands. These principles are based on research that was conducted – linking specific fingerprint patterns to particular careers. The scientific basis of psycho-diagnostic Chirology also makes it possible to obtain information on your unique personality traits, gifts and potential from the features of your hands. With this information you will be in a better position to make informed career choices.

There are many ways to approach the process of making career choices of which the following are examples of a few:

  • Based on what you are good at.
  • Based on what is available.
  • Based on your experiences or qualifications.
  • Based on what will provide you with the best income.
  • Based on what you enjoy and you would find fulfilling – you passion.

In the process of making career choices you play the most important role. You have to ensure that the choices you make reflect your happiness. It should not be based on what is expected from you or what any test result reveals. The choices you make should reflect the desires of your heart. With the information that follows the messages your brain has recorded on your hands will be decoded according to the principles if Chirology. This will provide you with information present in your subconscious mind – not always consciously available when you are required to make life changing decisions. By empowering you with this information you will be in a better position to make informed career choices.

Chirology is the tool that enables us to decode the information that is available on your hands. This information gets recorded on the hands in the same way a frown would appear on your face. A frown is an immediate manifestation of a thought process – “I don’t understand.” The changing features on the hands are also the result of thought processes, but this information takes longer to record. These features have been the subject of scientific research that now provides us with valuable information that is unique to only you.

The brain communicates information on the hands in both permanent and changing features. The permanent features provide us with information that reflects more of your enduring qualities – personality type or characteristics. The changing features reflect how you have managed external factors or experiences and how these have influenced your life. By providing you with this information you will increase your self-knowledge and have more clarity on the career you want to follow.

Our point of departure is the permanent features on your hands. From these features we obtain information on your personality type, characteristics, temperament, gifts, talents and potential.

Please note that in the discussion that follows you will be provided with information that will in some cases be career specific while in other cases the focus would be more on broader career fields.

Note – Read through the document and highlight what you like in different colours. For example – red would be “yes this is interesting”, blue would be “maybe”. Don’t mark what you don’t like. Keep in mind this document provides an inventory of what you can do – not what you want to do – that is up to only you.

Permanent features.

The permanent features include the fingerprint patterns, other palm patterns, shape of the hand and shape of the nails. From the permanent features we obtain information on our more enduring characteristics or personality traits.

From the shape of the hand we obtain your personality type, from the fingerprint patterns your characteristics in different life areas and temperament from the shape of the nails.

  • Shape of the hand.

From the shape of your hand we obtain information on how you would integrate your internal resources with what you are faced with in different environments – it is how you would generally conduct yourself in different environments. This is also the general view others would have of you as a person. The shape of the hand therefore describes the fundamental archetypal aspects of consciousness within you as a person.

This can also be regarded as your broad personality type. This plays an important role in the career that will be best suited for you specific qualities or characteristics. There are four main hand shapes and each is represented by an element. By referring to the hand shapes in the context of a specific element it is possible to accurately identify personality traits that are both complimentary and challenging without offending. The elements can then again be associated with a specific personality type. The following are examples of the different personality types:

Realistic Personality (Doers)

Investigative Personality (Thinkers)

Artistic Personality (Creators)

Social Personality (Helpers)

Enterprising Personality (Persuaders)

Conventional Personality (Organisers)

These personality types can be extremely beneficial in specific careers, but are based on broad outlines of very general human behaviour. An awareness of the challenges that are reflected on your hands allows you to consider effective strategies to manage them effectively. You now have information on the gifts, talents and potential reflected on your hands and also on the challenges you need to manage. This information plays an important role when you consider different career options. Next it is necessary to discuss what can be regarded as the most important aspect of choosing a specific career – your gift of free choice.

FREE CHOICE.

The most powerful tool at your disposal when considering different career options is your gift of free choice. Free choice is choosing on the basis of one’s desires when presented with specific options. Humans were created rational beings and all individuals have the dignity of persons who can initiate and control their own actions. Choice consists of the mental process of judging the merits of different options and selecting one of them, but each individual does this in a unique way.

With a more in-depth analysis of your hands you can be provided with practical guidelines on how to utilize your gift of free choice to ensure that you make career choices that support your life purpose.

The problem is that individuals often do not know how to effectively utilize their gift of free choice, because it requires a fair amount of self-knowledge and that is one of the aims of a career guidance report – to provide you with information that will increase your self-knowledge. If you know who you are you will also be aware of what you are passionate about. Passion is determined by utilizing your gift of free choice.

PASSION

Passion can be described as an intense feel good emotion of enthusiasm that motivates and inspires.

You cannot allow anyone to tell you what you are passionate about – that will violate your gift of free choice. Use the questions in Annexure B to guide you towards your passion if you do not know what it is.

Identify your passion and you are a step closer in making career choices that you are comfortable with.

Aspects to remember when considering the information in this document.

Some call it your niche others say it is your forte. The idea is to identify your uniqueness and to use that as the point where you start when considering different career options. Your uniqueness is a intricate combination of what you are good at (talents) and what makes you feel good (passions). It is important to spend time to establish what you are good at. Use the information in this document to guide you in this regard. As you read the information be aware of what makes you feel good. It is usually in those areas where you will find the answers to the questions that will guide you to make informed career choices.

In the report you will be guided to be aware of the following:

  • Knowing what your personal values are.

When you are aware of your personal values then you are less at risk to make career choices that will cause you to sacrifice your self esteem and integrity.

  • Identifying your passion.

When you know what you are passionate about it is possible to determine if the career you consider will provide you with opportunities to live your passion.

  • Being authentically you.

When you are aware of what comes naturally for you – what is it you can do, say and think that requires little to no effort you are in touch with who you authentically are. Knowing this allows you to picture yourself in the career you consider and then to answer the question – Will I be able to be authentically me in this career?

  • Knowing why you want to follow a specific career.

When you consider a specific career answer the following question – Why do I want to follow this specific career? Your answer will provide you with an opportunity to determine if you are comfortable with the option you consider.

  • Pinpointing the emotion you seek to experirnce.

When you identify the emotion you wish to predominantly like to experience in a working day it is possible to determine if the career you consider will provide you with opportunities to predominantly feel that way.

Throughout the document there will be references to “your interest” or “what you find interesting”. We are not always conscious of what our interests are.

Most individuals, when making career choices, will say ‘‘I want something interesting’’. Your interests have already influenced many of the choices made in your life. By considering the reasons behind the choices you make you will have a better understanding of what your interests are. These interests are likely to have a similar influence on your choices for a career. For some people, an interest is of such importance in their life that it is the main influence on their career choice. Gifted athletes, for example, may be able to use their interest and ability to succeed in a sporting career. Many more people will be content to play their sport at a recreational level, but will still take this interest into account when selecting a career or an employer. Some may enter sports-related careers, in leisure management, sports administration or promotion, retailing sports goods or teaching physical education. Others will seek out careers in different fields that offer similar opportunities for physical activity, teamwork, competition or challenge. Or they may simply choose between employers on the basis of the company sports facilities. Answering the following exercises can guide you towards your interests:

(A list of questions is provided.)

Put the answers from the questions above on list. You’ll be surprised how many of these can be turned into career opportunity ideas. They are clues to things you might want to pursue as career change ideas. Being conscious of your interests will empower you to make more informed choices.

The most important aspect of this discussion is that you remain the authority to make career choices. Stay true to your heart when you consider the information in this document.  You can now do that with confidence because you are empowered with information to make informed choices.
